Costello and Koons lead their teams to great finishes-Weller helps Iona to podium at NCAA D1

PA athletes performed well at the NCAA Division I Championships in Terre Haute, Indiana. For the women, the Mid-Atlantic Region was well-represented as West Virginia, Princeton and Villanova went 4-5-6 in the team competition. Leading Princeton was junior Liz Costello (in Pre-Nats photo by Timothy O'Dowd, IrishRunner.com) (Conestoga), who earned an all-American certificate with her 15th place 20:23.9. Fifth-year senior Frances Koons (Allentown Central Catholic) led Villanova with another all-American performance, going 20:29.4 for 20th. Big Spring grad and Nebraska sophomore Lara Crofford was 45th in 20:45.4, while Freedom grad and University of Virginia senior Lauretta Dezubay was 87th in 21:07.2.

Boyertown grad Jason Weller was the 5th man for podium-landing 2nd place Iona, running 30:48.2 for 88th place. Kennard-Dale grad and Oklahoma transfer Jon Grey was 78th for William & Mary in 30:43.4. Kyle Dawson (Coatesville) ran first for Penn State, getting 81st in 30:45.2. Manheim Township grad Craig Miller was 4th on the 4th place Wisconsin squad, going 30:49.3 for 90th. Unionville grad Colin Leak was 94th in 30:52.2 for 94th, and Ellwood City grad Jake Walker tookk 96th in 30:52.4 running for Notre Dame, 3rd on the team.
