Team USA sweeps Great Edinburgh XC in historic showing

Team USA swept the Junior and Senior Men's and Women's races at the 2015 Bupa Great Edinburgh Cross Country event on Saturday, January 10, as the United States finished the day with a final team score of 121 over Europe (189) and Great Britain (223).

Makena Morley (Bigfork, MT) and Foot Locker Nationals champion Anna Rohrer (Mishawaka, IN) went 1-2 in the Junior Women's race to lead the sweep, crossing the line in 14:40 and 14:47 for 4k, respectively. Foot Locker Nationals runner-up and US #1 4:44.2 miler Ryen Frazier (Ravenscroft, NC) ran third for Team USA, finishing in sixth place with a time of 15:22.

Also racing for the Junior Women were collegians Katie Lembo (7th, 15:42), Regan Rome (21st, 16:04) and Mary Grace Doggett (22nd, 16:22).

Final team scores for the Junior Women's race were USA 16, Great Britain 27, Europe 37.

In the Junior Men's race, Team USA claimed five of the top six spots. Oklahoma State freshman Cerake Geberkidane led the squad in claiming runner-up honors with a time of 20:07 over 6k. Foot Locker/NXN runner-up Olin Hacker (Madison West, WI) ran for bronze honors in 20:08, followed closely by Caleb Webb (Big Bear, CA) in fourth (20:28), Boise State's Andrew Rafia (5th, 20:35) and Elijah Armstrong (Pocatello, ID) in sixth (20:36). Joseph McDonald-Hardy rounded out scoring in 12th place overall, 20:57. 

Yemaneberhan Crippa (Europe) won the Junior Men's title in 1:57. Final team scores for the race were USA 14, Europe 27, Great Britain 49.

Team USA led the overall scoring by 30 points after two races.

A 1-2 finish from Chris Derrick (25:31) and Jacob Riley (25:33) over 8k led the Senior Men to a dominating win, as all six Americans placed within the top ten overall finishers. Reed Connor (4th, 25:38), Andrew Colley (6th, 25:42), Craig Forys (7th, 25:43) and Jonathan Grey (15th, 26:16) rounded out scoring. 

Final team scores for the Senior Men's 8k were USA 30, Great Britain 66, Europe 81.

In the last race of the morning, the Senior Women wrapped up the Team USA win with three ladies in the top ten. Brianne Nelson led the charge in fourth overall with a 6k time of 21:54, while Iowa State's Emma Bates was sixth (22:01) and Frances Koons was eighth (22:17). Angela Bizzari (12th, 22:29), Mia Behm (14th, 22:34) and Tara Erdmann (17th, 22:40), Alisha Williams (18th, 22:45), Kristen Findley (20th, 22:46) and Rochelle Kanuho (21st, 22:47) also ran. 

Europe won the Senior Women's 8k, with Team USA in second and Great Britain in third.

The final team scores, inclusive of all four races, were USA 121, Europe 189 and Great Britain 223.
