MARION, Ind. - - The Ball State indoor track & field team racked up 29 career best performances in another strong showing Saturday afternoon at the Indiana Wesleyan University Invitational at the Troyer Fieldhouse.

   In addition to the personal-best performances, the Cardinals racked up eight event victories and posted a 99-18 dual win over IUPUI in the four-team meet.

   Ball State's biggest event victory of the day came in the long jump, with redshirt sophomore Christina Crawford (Belleville, Mich./Romulus) posting a Mid-American Conference Indoor Championship automatic qualifying mark of 5.78m.  

   The Cardinals added a second field event win in the weight throw, with Marie Lumpkin (Losantville, Ind./Union) posting a first-place toss of 16.90m.

   Ball State would then turn in a dominating performance on the track, winning six of the meet's nine running events.

   In the sprints, redshirt junior Rebecca Lomax (Indianapolis, Ind. /Southport) took home top billing in the 200m dash with a career-best effort of 26.09, while senior Hannah Lange (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville) won the 400m dash in 59.29.

   In the middle distance events, sophomore Danielle Dahl (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) captured the top spot in the 800m run at 2:19.76, while freshman Jordan Timmons (Bargersville, Ind./Center Grove) crossed the finish line first in the 1000m run with a career-best clocking of 3:15.02.

   Freshman Olivia Ashba (Ellettsville, Ind./Edgewood) would rack up Ball State's final individual event victory, winning the 60m hurdles in 9.42.

   Ashba and Lange would go on to bookend the first-place 4x400m relay, which also included freshmen Ariel Hune (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) and Makelle Skelton (Fort Wayne, Ind./Northrop), which clocked in at 4:06.81.

   The Ball State indoor track & field team returns to action Friday, when it opens competition in the two-day Gladstein Invitational hosted by Indiana.
