Cross Country Holds Position In Regional, National Rankings

The Wabash cross country team remained ranked 12th in the nation and number-one in the Great Lakes Region in this week's US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll.
The Wabash Cross Country team held its positions in both the national and regional US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Div. III rankings.

The Little Giants kept the top spot in the Great Lakes Region, as did the remaining nine teams in the poll. North Central ranked as a unanimous number one selection in the national ranking, and outside of UW-La Crosse breaking their tie with Haverford to move to second in the nation, the top ten remained the same.

This weekend the Little Giants will split the team, with a group of seven runners competing at the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday. The second squad will travel to Pre-Nationals at Hanover College. The Notre Dame features teams from all divisions including many ranked DIII teams, such as the aforementioned North Central, Calvin (ranked second regionally and 22nd nationally), UW-Oshkosh (13th in the national rankings), and UW-Stevens Point (34th in the nation). The Saturday's race features teams such as Bowdoin College (sixth in the nation), Manchester (third in the regional and 32nd nationally), and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (18th in the nation), along with many other top Division III opponents.

The Notre Dame race begins at 2:45 p.m. for the Gold Division event. Saturday's race at Hanover starts at 1 p.m.
