Track and field competes at Ohio State, Purdue

The UIndy track and field teams split to participate in two meets this weekend, with Greyhounds in competition at both Purdue and Ohio State.

For the UIndy women at Purdue, The Greyhound basketball trio of Sydney Weinert, Kelly Walter and Kylie Ballard went 1-2-3 in the high jump, while Hannah Hasty took fourth in the 400-meter hurdles, with a time of 1:07.03.

Farin Hickman posted a third-place finish in the women's javelin, with a throw of 34.12 meters, while Valorie Parker and Adriana Ganz both took fifth place finishes in the jumps, with Parker in the long jump and Ganz in the triple. Freshman Kailey Evans won the long jump with a leap of 5.42 meters, for her first event win as a Hound. Katy Watson finished fifth in the women's discus, with a throw of 42.14 meters, while Luci Lowry took fifth in the hammer for the Hounds, with a toss of 44.36 meters.

Josh Bridwell and Shane Wyant took fourth and fifth in the men's shotput at Purdue, while Tim Lovejoy posted the Hounds' highest finish in taking third in the hammer with a throw of 58.02 meters. Landon White also posted a top-five finish for UIndy, taking fourth in the javelin.

Blaze Hurley and Zach Little both finished in the top five in the men's pole vault and high jump, respectively, while Clayton Abbott took second in the men's triple jump with a leap of 12.12 meters.

At Ohio State's Jesse Owens Track Classic, UIndy's sprinters participated along with some of the nation's best in the invitation-only event. Quinntyn Qualls took sixth in the men's 100-meter dash, and fifth in the 200-meter race, while Robert Gardner took 11th in the 200-meter race and sixth in the 400-meter.

The Greyhounds close out the regular season next weekend at the Hillsdale Invitational, with the 2013 Great Lakes Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 3-4 at Lewis.
