Wayne High School track and field has a rich history with the sport. Combined, the boys and girls teams have won 11 sectional titles (which includes a current streak of 4 straight from 2004-present [boys]), 3 regional titles, 1 state runner-up, and 2 state titles ('73 boys, '79 girls). Individually the Generals have produced 22 state champions (7-girls & 15-boys). Currently, the Generals are striving to continue the tradition. The boys team is on a current streak of 4 sectional championships. The girls, after a few down years, have returned to excellence, with a top 20 finish in last years state meet. The goals for the 2008 season are set high, with several key returning runners on both teams, the Generals should continue to be a model of excellence.
