Carmel competed in today's Carmel Classic Distance Medley at the Northview Church Course. The unique distance medley concept has in the Varsity race concurrent 3 K-4 K-5 K distances with teams allowed up to 4 runners at each distance with two scoring in each race and the tiebreaker being the third runner at the 5 K race. Carmel won with 20 points followed by North Central (40), Zionsville (42), Franklin Central (62) Warren Central (89), West Lafayette (96), Center Grove (98), Chesterton (112), Southport (146), Mt. Vernon (181), Lafayette Harrison (188) and Waldron (216).
The 3 K was won by Zionsville's Mason Herhusky in 9:19.4. Running for Carmel were Michael George (2nd in 9:30.2), Daniel Williams (4th in 9:49.5), Kyle Hook (7th in 10:00.5) and Michael Lukovic (14th in 10:12.0).
Winning the 4 K race was Carmel's Charles Watson in 12:56.8. Greyhounds running included Corey Turner (2nd in 12:57.6), Daniel Sechuga (15th in 13:52.9) amd Sepaus Crawford (16th in 13:56.1)
James Huffman from North Central won the 5 K in 16:03.1. Hound competitors included Ben Anderson (2nd in 16:30.2), Connor Hitchcock (9th in 17:02.1), Jaedon Wilson (12th in 17:12.5) and Alex Cashbaugh (23rd in 18:00.5).
Two of Carmel's top runners, Patrick Appleton and Robert Browning were held out today as they recover from injuries from last Spring although they will be ready to race soon.
In the Junior Varsity 4 K race, Carmel placed first with 19 points followed by Zionsville (57), Franklin Central (60), Chesterton (136), Center Grove (138), North Central (154), Lafayette Harrison (224) and Mt. Vernon (244).
Winning the JV race was Carmel's Josh Horowitz in 13:42.3. Top Carmel runners included Ben Booher (3rd in 14:03.1), Jace Wisdorf (4th in 14.07.6), Andrew Kalthoff (5th in 14:10.8), Zach Horowitz (6th in 14.18.1), Jordan Ehrlich (8th in 14:24.9) and Ben Hatfield (14th in 14:43.9).
The Freshman 4 K race was won by Carmel with 22 points followed by Zionsville (69), Franklin Central (71), North Central (103), Mt. Vernon (132) and Southport (139).
Winning the Freshman race was Carmel's Ben Veatch with a time of 13:43.9. Top Greyhounds included Thomas Revard (2nd in 14:00.3), Matthew Croaning (3rd in 14:20.5), Bryan Miller (7th in 15:02.3), Bryce Barnette (9th in 15:13.2), Andrew Trachtman (11th in 15:17.6) and Nolan O'Keefe (14th in 15:24.7).
