OXFORD, Ohio - IUPUI's men's runners got back to competition on Saturday as the Jaguars took part in the Miami Invitational at the George Rider Track. Junior
Aaron Kremer paced the Jags' seven entries in the 5,000 meter run, placing tenth of 54 runners in a time of 15:02.93.
"Kremer was very good through two miles," IUPUI Head Coach
Chuck Koeppen said. "He struggled a bit for the last mile, but all in all, it was a pretty good race for him."
Kremer's sister, Andrea, was a two-time All-American in track at Miami.
Behind Kremer,
Joe Hoffman ran a 15:17.31 and placed 16th and freshman #J.D. Smith# posted a time of 15:37.39.
Fellow rookie
Matt Farkas enjoyed an outstanding run, crossing in a time of 15:42.01.
"Farkas ran in the slower heat and he had one guy in his race that probably should've been in the fast race. Otherwise, he wins his race," Koeppen said.
Ricky Warren,
Tyler Proctor and
Kyle Schwartz rounded out the Jaguars' entries with the latter two running personal records.
Senior
Evan Fruits ran in the 1,500 meter race as he's currently building back his endurance after an injury earlier this spring. The Whiteland-native placed 16th of 42 runners in a time of 4:05.71.
The men's runners will return to action on Apr. 17 when the Jaguars take part in the Indiana Invitational in Bloomington.
