NEW ORLEANS - It was recently announced that the IUPUI men's and women's cross country teams have been named All-Academic Teams for 2009 by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
It was the tenth consecutive year the women's team has earned the award and the sixth time in seven years the men's team has been honored. To be honored, the team must have competed in the NCAA Regional Championship and have a minimum GPA of 3.00. Head Coach
Joni Sanders' women's squad had a 3.40 grade point average and
Chuck Koeppen's men's team compiled a 3.29 mark.
On Friday, Villanova was named the Women's Scholar Team of the Year and today, Oklahoma State was pegged as the Men's Scholar Team of the Year.
IUPUI's men's team was one of four Summit League teams honored while the women's squad was one of five league teams recognized.
