Q) Talk about the recruitment process - what other schools were you looking at, and how did you come to choosing Georgia?

At first, I was looking all over! I really didn't know what I was looking for. The process started really early (September 1st of last year) and it got really crazy after Great Southwest. Around June I really narrowed it down to my home-visit schools and from there my official visit schools so that I could really focus my energy on the schools that were possible fits. I visited Duke, Florida, Georgia, and USC. I had amazing visits at each of the schools but I knew exactly where I needed to be.

I chose Georgia because I trusted Petros as a coach and I have complete faith that he can get me to the next level and beyond! His goals for me matched mine almost identically and I knew I wanted a coach that thought big! And his record speaks for itself. I really liked how I felt a connection with the whole coaching staff and it was obvious that they functioned as a united group. The coaches are awesome because they aren't just concerned with the points I can score but also how I develop as a student and a person. Another thing was on my visit, it was really easy to pick up on how coherent the team was. They all support each other and lift each other up! I also really liked how small each of the event groups where so everyone is getting full attention to detail from the coaches. On the academic side, I was happy to hear that Georgia was just ranked the 13th best public university in the country and that they have an amazing honors program that I plan on applying to! The opinions of my parents and siblings were really important to me and the fact that they say the same things I was seeing only cemented my decision.

Overall I know it is a place where I can thrive as a person, student, and athlete around other people with goals just as big as mine, so it just felt right!

Q) What do you plan to study at Georgia?

I have two paths that I am interested in. I was originally planning on majoring in biomedical engineering because that is my most passionate interest but looking at Georgia's awesome business school I am thinking about majoring in business with a possible minor or double-major in bio!

Q) Clearly, you've had an insane amount of success in the heptathlon, what are you planning to focus on at Georgia?

I will focus solely on the heptathlon at Georgia in the hopes of making a career out of it. They have done an awesome job developing their heps so far so I can't wait to join the group. They also have developed multiple elite high jumpers so I am excited to see where I can go in that event as well as the heptathlon.

Unfortunately, I am not planning on focusing on the long hurdles at all so that I can focus all my energy into the hep and making teams! But who knows maybe I will get to run them every now and then off of my hep training :)

Q) Could you share any goals you have for the upcoming track season?

My biggest goal for this season is to have fun with it and stay healthy! I am hoping to grab that indoor pentathlon national record that I missed out on last season. I will be focusing my season around having my biggest performances at Senior USA's indoors and out! I want to gain some experience this year against high-level competition to get ready for college and for Olympic Trials in 2020. In the high school season, my goal for us as a team is to step into 5A and take the team title, I think we have a good chance if we work hard! I also really want to win 4 events at state this year to help the team with 40 points. The one goal that I will put out there with a number on it is that I hope to run 39.50 in the 300h by the end of the year because this will be the last time I ever get to run them!

Q) What would your favorite high school moment be (so far)?

My favorite high school moment so far was when Valor went to the Oregon Relays and we won! I liked that the most because it was a fun time getting to travel with my high school team and there were so many fun and memorable moments. What I liked the most was how each of us stepped up even in another state, even in bad weather, and we gave it our all! Winning as a team gave us a lot of confidence going into state and it was SO fun! I also loved that at that meet I got to run the 4x4 and 300h which are two events I love but don't always get to focus on!
