HCC Championships Meet Info and Preview

Grant Wilson is the top HSE boy this season

Boys Varsity Race

With a conference with a long history of being one of the best in the state, this meet is always very exciting and this year is no exception. In the preseason, Fishers looked like the team that could win a state title. They still have the potential to be that team as well, and tomorrow will be a great opportunity to show that ability. If their top 7 can all race their best race of the season tomorrow, we should see them all in the top 20. They appear to be the lock for the team title this year. If we were taking bets, Avon looks like the ones to bet on for 2nd place, with probably 3 in the top 15.

It'll be the battle of the Ethan's come 10:30 tomorrow. Ethan Meyer and Ethan Goddard are easily the top two guys in this conference and they should be side by side for most, if not all, of the race. After those two, Nathan Beeler and Travis Hickner should be in that next group battling for a top finish.

Girls Varsity Race

Franklin Central upped their game this year, by moving to a more competitive conference and this year's girls HCC winner could easily be a girl from Franklin Central. Jada Reedus has been on fire thus far and should drop a big time on this historically fast Noblesville course and manage to pull off the individual win. Her teammate, Brianna Lawson shouldn't be to far behind her either. Now don't count out Lulu Black. She is on a mission this year and could be looking to redeem herself after winning in 2016 but coming up short last year. Also she had last weekend off, so she is coming out on fresh legs ready to go.

Anna Settle of Zionsville could also be looking to help put her team in a god position by coming in around the top 5 and having her teammate, Lydia Moore right there with her.

Now just like the boys race, there is a big favorite for 1st place, but there isn't a big favorite to take 2nd. The Lady Eagles look to be able to put together a winning team and place all 5 scorers in the top 20 range.

2nd place looks to be a very tight race between Noblesville and the newcomers, Franklin Central. The Millers have a crazy good spread of just 16 seconds, bringing in all of their 7 within 1 or 2 places of each other. But Franklin Central has those two really great low sticks with Reedus and Lawson.
