Participating Schools: Calumet, East Chicago Central, Gary West Side, Griffith, Hammond, Hammond Academy of Science & Technology, Hammond Bishop Noll, Hammond Clark, Hammond Gavit, Hammond Morton, Highland, Lake Central, Munster, Whiting.

Sectional 1 will be just between a handful of teams. Lake Central, Munster and Highland all will have easy paths to Regionals.

Boys

Lake Central comes in as the defending champions, after scoring just 19 points. They bring back almost everyone, led by Billy Duszynski, who ran 15:54 this year at the Rudy Skorupa Invitational. Highland does come in with a nice pack of runners, and can put down a 56 second spread. Both will be well ahead of Munster. Prediction: Lake Central wins, followed by Highland, Munster, Gavit and Hammond Morton advance.

Individual Winner: Billy Duszynski

Individuals Advancing: Tyler Dowd (Bishop Noll), Enrique Romo (East Chicago Central), Daniel Solis (Whiting), Jake Furhermeyer (Bishop Noll), Jose Tapia (Whiting), Ivan Lopez (Whiting), Michael Quintero (Bishop Noll), Dalvyn Lema (Whiting), Kevin Torres (Whiting), Brandon Zavesky (Bishop Noll).

Girls

Lake Central again comes in as the defending champions, but this crown won't be as easy to defend. Munster comes in as the stronger team, returning 4 from their runner up squad from last year. Munster is led by Brisa Bohling, who has run 19:00 flat this season. Highland comes in with a strong team as well, led by two low-stick scores in Ciera Lee and Grace Aurand. Lake Central sports a strong pack, with an amazing 12 second spread, but they just aren't quite fast enough to compete with the low sticks Munster and Highland have. Prediction: Munster wins, followed by Highland, Lake Central, Whiting and Bishop Noll.

Individual Winner: Brisa Bohling
