Anna Rohrer named Gatorade Girls National XC Runner of the Year

Anna Rohrer of Mishawaka, Ind. was named the Gatorade National Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year in a ceremony at her high school this morning.

The Foot Locker Nationals champion won the event in San Diego's Balboa Park in 17:13.00 over 5k. She also won the title in 2012 as a sophomore with a time of 17:24.80. She is just the second girl in race history to win the national championship twice in non-consecutive years. The other girl is Jordan Hasay (Mission College Prep, CA), who currently competes for the Nike Oregon Project.

Rohrer's 2014 win was particularly impressive given she did compete at all in cross country during the 2013 season due to injury.

The senior made a shocking comeback this past spring following her injury to win the New Balance Outdoor Nationals 5k title in 16:16.97.
