NEW ORLEANS - The IUPUI men's cross country team jumped into the USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region polls for the first-time ever on Monday (Sept. 30), earning the region's No. 10 position.

Head Coach Chuck Koeppen's Jaguars have opened the season with four impressive showings, including a pair of meet wins. The Jaguars started the season with a second-place finish at the Dayton Flyer 5K, falling just 12 points shy of first-place Ohio State.

The following weekend, IUPUI won both the Crusader Open and IPFW Invitational, giving the program its third and fourth meet wins under Koeppen and sixth and seventh in school history.

Most recently, the Jaguars finished fourth at the Indiana Intercollegiates Meet on Sept. 20, trailing only Indiana, Purdue and Indiana State. Purdue and Indiana State are immediately in front of the Jaguars in this week's rankings at No. 8 and No. 9, respectively.

The Jaguars deep lineup is headlined by sophomores Joey Zielinski, Sam Roudebush and Miguel Lozano. Zielinski ran 25:33.08 at the Indiana Intercollegiates for a 13th-place finish and Roudebush crossed at 25:35.41 for 14th-place.

Lozano, Spencer Burgin and Peyton Reed filled out the Jaguars' top five, while juniors Pryce Ragains and Austin Young have also been significant contributors this season. Redshirt freshman Mitch Hubner and true freshman Damon Pruett also ran among the varsity nine in Bloomington.

IUPUI will return to action on Friday, Oct. 4 when the Jaguars run in the Gold Race at the Notre Dame Invitational.
